Not an expert and can only go on my experience. Used air tanks for years in the desert, fit the biggest you can, paired with the best compressor you can. I often used air-conditioner compressors.
Make sure the tank can handle the pressure you want in the tank, poor quality can blow.
Tanks are great for cleaning filters, machinery and cleaning in general because you can get that initial....WHOOOSH... A good one can reseat a tyre.
I always got my tanks from truck wreckers.
Would suggest two outlets, front and rear and hose just long enough to reach trailer wheels.
If you are doing serious 4x4ing.....and I doubt it with a Colorado, (wink here)
but its very important to have the hoses really well protected and hidden.
Everything in the bush will try and tear them off.
Just my thoughts, and a lot has changed since I used them
